Bible Study at St. Johns

Sunday Mornings - all classes are at 9 to 10 AM

FaithWeaver© is a program that has family ministry built into it. It makes Bible learning fun by using a variety of active experiences to help students learn in the ways they learn best. People of all ages will learn how to ‘weave faith into life’ by applying the Bible to their lives throughout every week. A list of the classes, teachers and classrooms are noted at the end of this article.

Young Adults – Led by Debbie Ashby and JR Stratton. This small group for College-ages and above offers Bible Study and discussions on faith and context in living a Christian life.

New Beginnings - Led by J. Allen Lovell. Designed both for seekers wanting to learn about the Christian faith AND believers who would like to learn more.  Using DVD lessons given by the great inspirational speaker, Rob Weber, the class investigates what it means to believe in God, live and work together in Christian community, and grow in faithfulness.  New Beginnings is unique at St. John's in that after the 30 lessons, participants move on to other classes and a new class is recruited.  Give it a try; it is a powerful experience!

Bible Study – Old and New Testaments - Led by Rusty Grimsley. Study of the Books of the Bible, alternating from the Old and New Testaments.

Intergenerational Bible Study – Led by Bob Winstead. Study the Bible chronologically. Members share the variety of interpretations of Scriptures from individual member's Bibles.  Study is structured through the use of handouts that address the preceding weeks' daily Bible reading assignment.

Life Applications - Led by Suzanne Dorick. A flexible setting to talk about God and the spiritual side of our lives. Currently using “Disciplines” a book of Daily Devotions from the Upper Room. Each day has a one-page short read and a Bible verse to refer to. Each week features a different author.

Thursday Mornings - 10:30 to 12 AM

Led by June Aylor, this fall’s class is studying I Peter and II Peter. The program runs September 9 through November 18, 2010 and meets in the Library.
