All staff meet the qualifications of St. John's UMC CECE Board. These qualifications include the love of young children, successful working experience with young children, academic training experience working in developmental childhood education, positive attitude toward children and an optimistic commitment.
The staff is certified annually by a physician to be free from any disability which would prevent them from caring for children and from any communicable diseases. A negative TB test result is also required of each staff person.
All staff (including substitute teachers) must undergo a background check through the Virginia State Police and the Child Protective Services.
